About Us

Area Mugs is a small operation based in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. The idea started with a project to research and recreate the brands, signs, and logos that once filled the Hamilton area between the 1950s and early 2000s. Many of these designs had faded away, and bringing them back felt like a way to share a piece of local history. By preserving these long-lost classics, we hope to spark a bit of recognition and nostalgia for those who remember them.

Why the mugs?

For us, it is simple. We like a good mug. A mug can carry more than coffee or tea, it can carry a memory. Enjoying a familiar design with a morning cup felt like something worth sharing, and we figured others might enjoy it too. All of our mugs are 15oz white ceramic, made in a classic cylindrical shape with a glossy finish that lets the artwork stand out. They have a solid weight and are built to become the mug you reach for every day, whether at home or up at the cottage.

The Tees

After our first mug pop-up, people quickly began asking about t-shirts. At the time we did not have the space or resources to print and stock apparel. To make it possible, we partnered with Print Geek in Toronto. Their team helps us bring these same designs onto soft cotton tees, so the artwork can be worn and enjoyed for years to come.
